About myself and my artworks:

I was fascinated by the world of Ukrainian icons while studying at LKDUM. I. Trusha, there he got acquainted with the ancient technique of yolk tempera. I look for inspiration in ancient sacred art. His complex and orderly semiotic world generates new images and forms. In my creative compositions I use innovative elements, both in the field of form and content, and I interpret authentic techniques in a new way. The majestic figures in my works reflect, rather, the inner womb, the transformed being. Immovable images express God's peace and surreal life. I think that the process of creating an image is a kind of prayer

Roman Zilinko Art critic's review 19/06/2020

Danylo Movchan is one of the most expressive Lviv artists and creators of the icon. The main source of inspiration for his work is the Ukrainian medieval icon, which he understood very well while working as a restorer. At the same time, without entering into conflict with tradition, Danylo tries to be an actual artist and create in the context of contemporary art for a modern person. His icons, like other artworks, reflect conciseness and a return to the simplest form and clean, clear color. He is looking for an image of perfection - simple and understandable through God's original beauty, without unnecessary emotions, tension, and unnecessary lines and shades. Only harmony
