Peace and grandeur, passion and grace are invariably felt in the landscapes, female images and mythological scenes of the artist Vitalii Kolesnykov. His painting can be called a classic of our time, as if it came from another time, when academic drawing was valued above all else, and mythological subjects were the most relevant topic for research in art. The artworks of Kolesnykov have absorbed the best traditions of world realism, but the master passes them through modern perception, rethinks and gives a completely new way, at a high sonorous level.

His "New Danae" composition exactly echoes the artwork of the same name by Rembrandt.

The girl lies on her bed, waiting, and her maid in the background, alert, looks out from behind the screen. Here, the image of Danae fully corresponds to the canons of modern beauty: she is slim, graceful and tender, the features of her face are artistically expressive. In this artwork, as in many others, the painter appears as a nude master, coming up with a special thrill to the image of the female body, plastically and sensually breathing life into his images.

Vitalii Kolesnykov finished an academic art school in the person of Soviet and Ukrainian artist, painter, teacher, professor of the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture Tetiana Holembievska.

The painter is a subtle colorist who achieves a strong sound of color while maintaining its materiality. The landscapes of the artist, at first glance, are a little muffled, dull, precisely because of this, real and vital. Pastel whitened shades add to the artist's paintings intimacy sound. Thanks to the artistic flair and romantic mood of the author, the simple plots of landscapes evoke the viewer’s inner archetypical memories and lyrical mood.
