Maslova Marianna

Year of birth 1985
Place of birth Zhairem, Kazakhstan
Place of living and work Kyiv, Ukraine
About myself and my artworks

I work with graphic techniques that help show the rhythmicity and repetition of modern architecture. The etching also reveals the theme of botany, the cyclical nature of the world. I transform things into new codes or symbols that become the new modern alphabet. I also experiment with printed techniques and zero-waste art.

Life during the war
On February 24, I decided to stay in Kyiv, at home, to help ьн relatives and neighbors.
Only about two weeks after the start of the war I was able to think about art and work.
During this time, my relatives from Kyiv went abroad, and my niece and her friend were safely evacuated from Bucha via the Irpin Bridge.
I decided to sell my artworks and send 70% to the volunteers and official foundations. Thank you everyone, who help!

SERIES (3)

Scaffolding (3)

Marianna Maslova's series of graphic works is a reflection on the interplay between architectural space and the essence of form. The artist delves into the study of the dynamics of spatial structures, focusing on the complexity of support constructions that appear to the viewer not only as physical objects but also as metaphors for stability and support in a broader sense. She navigates through the intricate maze of lines and shapes, inviting us to consider the underlying frameworks that uphold not just buildings, but the fabric of our perceptions and interactions. Maslova's monochromatic palette strips away the distractions, enabling a pure contemplation of form and its profound implications.

Poetry in flowers (7)

Dedication to Shevchenko's poetry
Series named "The flowers poetry" (or Crimean herbs)

The quintessence of Cimmerian nature in small forms.
The murmur of leaves, sweet spicyness of the nectares, the warmth of the sunny wind... Crimean steppe blossoms with the marvel of grasslands. Daffodils, tulips, laurel, iris, cornel were the delight of mythical gods - and till nowadays these plants inspire artists and poets. The flowers and herbs have witnessed the creation of those myths and heroic deeds, they have absorbed the history of every person, who had touched them.

Kyiv's views (4)

The series of works "Views of Kyiv" are etchings with architectural monuments of the capital. Most of the compositions represent the sights as they were when they were built.

BIOGRAPHY
Artist's Information

Born in 1985 in the town of Zhairem, which means “oasis”, in Kazakhstan. Since 1994 she live and work in Ukraine. The first impressions of the Kazakh steppe, the original folk flowers, patterns influenced the details of her work. Many artworks can trace the ornaments of Middle Asia, and the variety of details resembles the steppe spring. In the middle of the nineties she came to Ukraine. If Kazakhstan is full of contrasts and clear contours, then the nature of Ukraine is made up of nuances and lace lines.

I work in my own printmaking workshop. I love to experiment with different printmaking techniques, tracing paper and collage. I like to transform realistic things to new abstract patern, to see unusual in usual life. And at the same time I love classical realistic methods.
I also practice a new mokulito technique.
My favorite themes are botanical theme, urbo and old architecture, symbols, crystals, light and shadows

These drawings, like the others that I acquired, of authorship by Marianna Maslova, live even more beautifully - this is such sophisticated beauty (a combination of lightness and transparency), such restrained chic and incredible realism !!! Marianna is a true master of her craft and a very pleasant and easy-going person !! I RECOMMEND !!!

Your artworks sound special, warm, as if you find yourself in that place, immersed in the atmosphere of the moment. They decorate the walls of my house, creating a cozy mood. This speaks of the delicate nature of the artist and her high skills. It is interesting that all the paintings (and I have a few of them) do not dissonant with the space, but complement it with a new, harmonious sound. Thank you very much, Marianne, and I wish you inspiration!

Marianne, thin and pure your graphic poetry. Epic plants rustle, unfold in front of me, bewitched, whisper their stories and names, flaunt each vein of petals, talk about the taste of rainwater and the hot buzzing of insects, about colorful life. With your artworks I fly away to the cliffs of Crimea, in the Azov steppe, into forests, open spaces and winds. And everywhere I am only a small observer of the miracle that there is a plant. Grain ... Escape ... Greatness of full color ... Ripeness ... Grain! I am happy that several of your flowers live with me, thank you!
