Levi Inga
Usually I work on plain air to catch the impression directly, later finishing works at the studio. That maybe is a reason for choosing pastels as a medium, as it lets one work quickly and easy to carry it. Pastel also gives many possibilities to work with color. I use only colored paper to get the overall tone and the atmosphere. Also I work with tempera, I like this kind of a bit more decorative but still complicated surface of the image that it makes.

Inga Levi reproduces in her pastels not what she sees and not what she has experienced - or rather, not only and not so much. It reproduces what she knows or, more precisely, what she always knew as an artist. It is a kind of insight, an innate involvement in the mystery - to the very mystery over which the great classic (in "Divine Comedy") did not advise to lift the pattern cover. Inga Levi despised this wise advice - most likely because of the fearlessness and curiosity inherent in youth. The whole problem is that with age these qualities in the vast majority of cases irrevocably go - and how in this case to feel in front of the "Metro Bridge" or "Autumn"?
