Painting “View from the carousel” (2017)
"View from the carousel" is a view of a deserted kindergarten by a an adult. An adult that got to a bizarre lonesome playground from an adult life carousel. All the signs that are there to teach children to behave in the city traffic look so ironic and a bit surrealistic. They came out to be a cause for a sudden stop to rethink one's life in the infinite rotation of the city.
The artwork is a part of "Signs of Life" series.
Usually I work on plain air to catch the impression directly, later finishing works at the studio. That maybe is a reason for choosing pastels as a medium, as it lets one work quickly and easy to carry it. Pastel also gives many possibilities to work with color. I use only colored paper to get the overall tone and the atmosphere. Also I work with tempera, I like this kind of a bit more decorative but still complicated surface of the image that it makes.
