Iryna Protsenko is an amazing master, combining high visual skill and an extraordinary flight of fantasy. Her paintings evoke bright emotions, they are enchanted by the warmth of the heart, whatever themes the artist touches. Iryna described her style as a conglomeration of neo-modernism and romantic realism, I add from myself - with elements of symbolism and surrealism.
Under the definition of "neo-modernism" is suitable a whole series of paintings of the artist on mythological themes, such as "Birth of Venus", "Pandora", "Far from Home", "Golden City". Plastically beautiful, filled with soft color transitions, they impress with a certain dissonance between the slowly developing plot and the included paradoxical elements. So, in the painting "Far from home", where Zeus Bull abducts a beautiful Europe, the raging sea element is shown, and on their expressive background the bull and the girl calmly and peacefully look at the viewer. In the painting "The Birth of Venus" next to the naked goddess floats in an inverted umbrella, in a puddle of water, a small bright fish. It is these details that give a symbolic sound to the image. At the heart of all the paintings of Iryna Protsenko is a flawless picture, the lightness of painting and the watercolor-light color palette. The artist is able to create a vibrant and moving picture of shadows and light, as, for example, in the painting "The Beginning of the Day". A "Still Life with Squirrel" is made of a complex fabric of chiaroscuro and gentle halftones. The shadow, gently enveloping objects, runs across the table, interlacing with sunlight reflections, descends down the folds of the tablecloth towards the squirrel. When they meet, the movement stops for a moment, and the apple falling from the table hangs in the weightlessness in parallel.
There are many paradoxical moments in the genre paintings of Iryna. That there is a boy-dreamer, sitting on a tree with a basket of apples, surrounded by a tumbling aunt in the air and a flying goat - light surrealism woven into a bright summer reality.
The positive wave comes from the sunny floral still lifes and numerous genre paintings. The banal stories at first glance: the boys with the catch, the girl running through the nettles, acquire weighty meaning from the artist.
Irina distinguishes a philosophical outlook on life, coupled with the romance. In her paintings - the warmth of love and beauty, meditation, and the pain of loneliness, irony and mischief. Each painting is a manifestation of extraordinary intelligence and high culture. The artist, as a gift to anyone wrote 80 portraits of fellow citizens - people of art and science.
