The author's signature is an integral part of the artist's brand. In a concise form, it carries information not only about the creator's name but also about his self-presentation skills, character traits, and attitude to his work. The modern viewer is accustomed to seeing the signature in the lower right corner of the canvas, considering it natural that the author wants to indicate the ownership of the work. Still, as it turns out for the history of art, the question of the authorship of the painting remains open. And the answer to it each era is looking independently.
In July 2012, the famous British Tate Gallery launched an unusual project. In a large virtual hall, visitors could get acquainted with the most famous paintings of the XX century, lost today. Unlike ordinary exhibitions, digital copies of art pieces and murals were surrounded by notes, photographs, newspaper clippings, and other auxiliary materials. All this helped the viewer to conduct a small "detective" investigation, independently restoring the history of the works in his imagination. Over 100 thousand people from 153 countries visited the phantom museum.
Only some people can get absolute pleasure from painting. To do this, you need to know the history of art and the philosophical ideas embedded in the work and be able to perceive the subtle nuances of artistic language. But this is only enough if the viewer pays due attention to visual contact with the canvas. The American artist Georgia O'Keeffe once said that contemplation takes as much time as friendship. This comparison successfully emphasizes the specifics of the deep connection that arises between the viewer and the painting.
Among the people involved in the field of art, the debate about the essence of artistic creativity still needs to subside. Some prefer to call it a profession, emphasizing the complexity of understanding even the basics, while others, with more romantic natures, consider it a vocation. In any case, one can become an artist only after many years of purposeful work on developing creative skills and studying fine arts traditions.
Many people left a mark on the history of fine arts, but only a few managed to change the image of the era with their creativity. One of such outstanding artists of the XIX-XX centuries was Pablo Picasso. During his long and fruitful life, he created tens of thousands of works, changed his citizenship, tried himself in different styles, created a new direction of painting, and contributed to the affirmation of humanistic ideals.
The cost of some paintings causes heated discussions among people unfamiliar with the realities of the art market. Sometimes even professional artists need help understanding why a technically simple work attracts the attention of collectors while worthy and interesting paintings are not paid attention to. The art market is formed not only by works of art but also by the creators' personalities and services related to the promotion of their brands. This complex system of relationships between different market participants determines the criteria that affect the prices of paintings.
Yayoi Kusama is one of the most unusual artists of our time. Both her work and biography attract the attention of fans. Yayoi Kusama belongs to those masters whose life has turned into real work of art, a canvas painted by the lines of fate. In addition, she is one of the most expensive and sought-after artists of our time.
In their creative impulse, artists often try to go beyond social conventions and break taboos. Thus, they explore different aspects of our life and help to look at them from the other side. Despite this, the results of creative activity and the relations of people related to the storage and redistribution of art objects are regulated by the established rules prescribed by law.
Triptych is a work of fine art consisting of three planks or panels. All parts are united by a typical composition and idea. Usually, a large central canvas is traditionally complemented by two small ones on the left and right. The boards of the triptych have their microplots, but all the meanings and artistic images are revealed only through the contemplation of the whole work. Zoning of the creative space allows you to place semantic accents in the composition and create an accessible story.
